November is coming…

Hey guys,

It’s the first of November tomorrow, so you know what that means, or maybe you don’t…

That’s National Novel Writing Month to the uninitiated.  This craziness involves attempting to write 50,000 words of an original work of fiction during the thirty days of November.  There are no prizes, unless you count the little winner .gifs that you get to download at the end if you make the target.  It’s just for shits and giggles, and to see if you actually can buckle down and write half a novel in four weeks.

Exercise the writing muscle every day, even if it is only a letter, notes, a title list, a character sketch, a journal entry. Writers are like dancers, like athletes. Without that exercise, the muscles seize up.
– Jane Yolen

Some of us in the Freak Circle Press are newbies to this, some of us have attempted this before and are going to attempt it again.  Some of us have a plan for what we’re going to write, some of us are flying by the seat of our pants.  Some of us are going in a totally new direction – away from bikers and MCs, some are returning in that direction, and some people are putting a whole new twist on what they’ve got.

We’re not making any promises, but hopefully, everyone taking part is going to walk away from this with the beginnings of something we can publish.  That’s our aim.

The Freaks taking part are:
Lina Andersson
C. D. Breadner
Elayne DiSano
Susan Fanetti
Shannon Flagg
Catherine Johnson
Sarah Osborne

At the halfway point, if we’re still standing, we’ll post some really short snippets of what we’re working on to the blog.  They will be raw, we don’t have time to edit as we’re going along, because, you know, pesky shit like jobs, husbands and kids that need taking care of, will impinge on our writing time.

So, raise your glasses, and wish us luck!

I love deadlines. I like the whooshing sound they make as they fly by.
– Douglas Adams

We’ll see you at the halfway point!
